Kilmer, a 32-year-old, 10-year veteran acquired from New Orleans, made
the most of Jurgensen's absence for Coach George Allen's Redskins,
handling the quarterbacking job with the benefit of experience if not
exceptional skills.
Kilmer is rated extremely low in natural ability with 2’s in set-up
speed and throwing ability, but compensates with his ability to lead-
his mark was better in that department than Jurgensen's- and a coolness
that enables him to react under pressure so well the scouts rate him a
4.
Despite Kilmer's attributes, there is little doubt that the throwing
ability of Jurgensen makes him No. 1 on this club as long as he
continues to maintain that standard.
