Jeff Knapple

Denver Gold

Jeff Knapple guided the University of Colorado to the 1976 Big Eight crown and the 1977. Following the 1976 season, he transferred from CU to the University of Northern Colorado.

Knapple played for the Denver Broncos of the NFL in 1980 and the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. In 1983, he signed with the Denver Gold of the USFL. He started the first game in USFL history against the Philadelphia Stars, but was waived by the Gold within two months. He played with the Generals for the rest of that first season, replacing starter Bobby Scott, who had been traded. The Generals finished 3-3 in those six games and Knapple was erratic. He was waived in 1984.
