ON THE COVER: Texas A&M's remarkable Randy Matson, now in his senior campaign for the Aggies, with no world, American or collegiate shot put records left to beat except his own. The 6-6 1/2, 254-pound native of Pampa, Tex., who also is the national collegiate discus record holder, believes he still is far from his potential strength. A four-sport star in high school and the Southwest Conference's "Sophomore of the Year" in his one season of varsity basketball, Matson has decided to concentrate on track and hopes to remain active in the sport for many years, after graduation as a business major.
